Tulsa officer, Betty Shelby, acquitted in shooting death of Terence Crutcher

Today a jury acquitted Tulsa police officer Betty Shelby in the shooting death of unarmed suspect Terence Crutcher. Shelby, 43, is white and Crutcher, 40, is black. 

Race took center stage almost immediately following the September 2016 shooting, which was caught on video.

Shelby was subsequently criminally charged with manslaughter.

Five Oklahoma prison guards seek medical treatment after brief altercation with inmates

Five private prison staff members were reportedly taken to a local hospital for medical treatment today after physical altercations with inmates.

According to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, the incident started after an officer at the Cimarron Correctional Facility pepper-sprayed an inmate for failure to comply with orders.

Lexington inmate charged with killing cellmate

An inmate at the Lexington Correctional Center has been charged with first-degree manslaughter in the death of his cellmate.

According to court records, Rodney Harty, 40, is accused of hitting Erick Shane Kitchell, 44, with enough force to cause his death.

The owner of two dogs responsible for the horrific mauling death of an 82-year-old woman has been criminally charged with second-degree manslaughter.

Antwon Demetris Burks, 31, of Oklahoma City, was formally charged today with one felony count of manslaughter in the second degree.
