Inmate dead after altercation at Oklahoma County Jail

7/19/2017 - OKC, OK -- Maurice Pendleton, an inmate at the Oklahoma County Jail, was killed after getting into an altercation with at least one other inmate.

According to published reports, Pendleton, 36, was being held on the jail's 8th floor holding area around 11:45 a.m. yesterday when he was injured.

Detention staff responded to the altercation and had Pendleton transported to the medical unit.

Pendleton was then transferred to an area hospital around 12:30 p.m. - Pendleton was pronounced dead around 5 p.m.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and investigators with the sheriff's office are looking into Pendleton's death.

No exact cause of death has been released.

Pendleton was being held since his arrest on July 11th on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and carrying a firearm after a felony conviction.
