A trial date has been set for one of two brothers charged in the stabbing deaths of five family members in their northeast Oklahoma home.

An April 16, 2018, trial date for 18-year-old Michael Bever on five first-degree murder charges was set Monday in Tulsa County District Court.

A federal judge has ordered a mental competency exam of 23-year-old Jerry Drake Varnell, who is accused of trying to detonate what he thought was a van loaded with explosives, parked outside a downtown Oklahoma City bank.

District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler said Tuesday his office found no criminal wrongdoing on the part of either the Tulsa police officer or two Tulsa County sheriff's deputies who shot 29-year-old Joshua Barre on June 9.

Jonathan Suggs, an inmate at the Oklahoma County Jail, is facing even more charges since his initial incarceration.

According to court records, Suggs assaulted two detention officers and a nurse in three separate instances.
